The 4-Hour Fall Prevention course is a required Site Safety Training (SST) module approved by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) under Local Law 196. Designed for construction workers operating at heights, this course provides the knowledge and awareness needed to prevent fall-related incidents on the job.
Through real-world examples and practical instruction, learners will gain an understanding of different types of fall hazards, proper use of personal fall arrest systems (PFAS), and key responsibilities under OSHA and NYC DOB safety standards.
Topics Covered Include:
- Introduction to fall hazards in construction
- Types of fall protection systems (guardrails, PFAS, scaffolds, etc.)
- Proper harness use, inspection, and maintenance
- Ladder, scaffold, and roof work safety protocols
- Regulatory requirements under OSHA and NYC DOB
- Fall prevention planning and hazard mitigation
- Emergency procedures and rescue basics
This course is 100% online and self-paced, making it easy for workers to fulfill their SST requirements without interrupting their schedule. A certificate is issued upon successful completion and can be applied toward the 40-Hour SST Worker or 62-Hour SST Supervisor training pathway.
Safety Advisory is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and authorized to issue CEUs that meet the ANSI/IACET 1-2018 Standard. To Receive CEU Credit:
- Complete all required training hours
- Pass all course assessments (where applicable)
- Submit valid ID and complete registration
- Participate in all required components of the course
Your CEU hours are listed on each course page. A digital certificate with CEU credit will be issued upon successful completion.
Upon completing all required training courses to meet NYC SST requirements, you will be eligible to receive your official SST card. Please note: The SST card is not automatically included and must be requested separately. To process your card, you must provide valid identification, a photo, and ensure all registration information is complete including submission of the required registration form.
