As part of the Department of Buildings’ continued efforts to streamline safety compliance, a new Worker Wallet Card will officially launch on November 1, 2024, through the NYC DOB Training Connect platform. This is a major step forward in simplifying how construction workers in NYC manage their qualifications—and Safety Advisory is here to help you stay ahead of the curve.
What Is the Worker Wallet Card?
The Worker Wallet Card is a digital and physical card that consolidates a worker’s various NYC DOB-approved training certifications into one convenient credential. Rather than carrying multiple cards for different certifications, workers can now have a single card that stores all their required qualifications for specialized construction tasks.
When scanned with the Training Connect App, the card displays verified certifications—helping employers, site supervisors, and inspectors confirm compliance in real time.
Which Certifications Are Included?
The Worker Wallet Card will serve as proof of certification for the following roles:
- Mast Climber User/Operator (and Refresher)
- Climber/Tower Crane Rigger
- Rigging Supervisor
- Rigging Worker
- Supported Scaffold User
- Supported Scaffold Installer & Remover
- Suspended Scaffold User
- Suspended Scaffold Supervisor
- Periodic Gas Piping Inspector
Who Needs to Upgrade?
If you currently hold any of the certifications listed above with a separate qualification card issued before November 1, 2024, you must upgrade to the new Worker Wallet Card by July 1, 2025 in order to continue working legally on jobs that require those qualifications.
Where to Get It
To obtain your Worker Wallet Card, visit a DOB-approved Course Provider—such as Safety Advisory. As an accredited provider, we are fully equipped to issue the new cards using the Training Connect system. Please note: an administrative fee may apply.
Important Note: SST Cards Are Still Required
The Worker Wallet Card does not replace the Site Safety Training (SST) Card. Both cards are required for many job roles and are linked to your profile within the Training Connect App. Be sure to keep both up to date and accessible.
